Personal Financial Planning Tips for Youth

Personal Financial Planning Tips for Youth

Managing finances for the future is an important foundation in life. It's a shame that our income is always spent for some impulsive buyings.

Purpose, determination and consistency are the 3 main things that we must have. However, what is equally important is that there are some 'smart tricks' that can be practiced so that personal finances for the youth are safely under control. How do we do that?

1. Separate Accounts For Savings and Daily Needs

This is the most basic one. Separate savings and necessities, to make it easier to control our spending. This also avoids the possibility of our savings funds being used for daily needs.

2. Track Our Routine Expenditures

It is important for us to know what our regular monthly expenses are. So we can evaluate and balancing our income and expenses.

Beside of fixed expenses, it would be nice if we also track annual expenses that cost quite a lot. For example, spending on motorbike maintenance every 2 months or our hometown trip once a year.

3. Find a Side-Job or Start a Business (Side Hustle)

To increase our income and our time management skill, we can start improve our skills by looking for a side job or even starting a small business. Currently, there are many choices of freelance work that we can do at home.

Remember! This is only a side hustle, so don't let it interfere with our main job and our main responsibilities.

4. Control Our Credit Card Use

Use a credit card to purchase consumer goods that are urgently needed, or to subscribe to certain applications. But remember that credit card is a payment alternative, not a debt tool alternative.

Prioritize buying items in cash to reduce the burden of installments or bills that accumulate. If we can still delay the purchase, it's better to postpone the next month. It’s our responsibilities to know what are our priorities.

5. Choose the Right Bank Product

The best first move is always our first action. Choose the bank product that benefits us the most. DepositoGo is of the banking product that helps us to effectively divide our savings fund and daily funds. DepositoGo can be applied anywhere and anytime, even when we’re staying at home.
